Our Mission
The Democratic Party of Clackamas County works to elect progressive leaders at the local, state, and national levels. We do this through education, fundraising, and voter drives. We support candidates who are committed to universal voting rights, access to quality education and health care, a healthy and sustainable environment, and economic opportunity for all.
Our Values
FREEDOM
In the United States of America, our freedoms matter. This country was built on the right
to have our voices heard, to make our own decisions, to be treated fairly by the justice
system and to vote in free and fair elections. We believe a strong democracy isn’t afraid
to do the hard work of being better tomorrow than it is today.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, ACCESSIBILITY
The work of a democracy is to advance inclusion, choice and equity. We know that there
is strength in diversity, openness and tolerance. We recognize that systemic bias has
shaped our culture, and we are deeply concerned about ongoing insidious efforts to
exclude others simply because they are different. We elevate the voices of the most
vulnerable. We work together to protect and grow a healthier, more participatory
democracy.
JUSTICE
At the DPCC, we examine issues at the intersecton of social, racial, economic and
environmental justice, using evidence-based decision making. We know that when
justice is threatened, so is democracy. Justice requires that no one be denied their basic
rights, including the right to due process.
ETHICS
We embrace the principles of honesty, transparency, inclusivity and respect for the rule
of law and for others. We provide an environment for respectful conversations that
result in positive outcomes. We know that gaining the trust of the public starts with fiscal
responsibility, shared trust and a well-functioning organization.
Our values statement is a forward looking, positive statement of who we are in this changing political world. In
creating this statement, we had several conversations to get input from the Precinct Committee
Persons (PCPs). The Central Committee approved this statement August 21, 2025.
We acknowledge the work of the Metropolitan Group and their Pro-democracy Narrative playbook (Webinar June
2025). The value of Freedom as adopted by the DPCC is drawn directly from the playbook.
