Clackamas County Democrats Make National News In Persuasive Report about our McLeod-Skinner Endorsement
The fact that Democratic leaders in Oregon have endorsed Jamie McLeod-Skinner over incumbent Kurt Schrader has gained national attention. Clackamas County Dems chair Jan Lee was interviewed by The Intercept in an article picked up by the Washington Post and other national outlets.
In the article, Jan explained why our organization supports McLeod-Skinner over Schrader in the May 17th primary election for US representative in the 5th District. And she points to our position paper that details Schrader's history of votes that run counter to the values of the state's Democratic Party. In fact, the article includes a link to the document, which was presented to Precinct Committee Persons in advance of their vote to endorse McLeod-Skinner.
The Intercept piece describes why Schrader's record has irked Democrats and points to his recent TV ads, which Jan rightly notes are "misleading." The article notes that Schrader is one of the "top recipients of pharmaceutical money in Congress, taking over $100,000 from affiliated PACs in each of the last three election cycles. He has received almost $90,000 from these political action committees in the 2022 cycle so far."
Though The Intercept doesn't mention it, we will: Jamie McLeod-Skinner is refusing money from corporate special interests and has pledged to fight corruption and pass ironclad ethics rules.
