May 20, 2025 Special District Election

Are you thinking of running for office? We have resources available to you starting with our Candidate Portal!

The current political situation can seem overwhelming. One thing to keep in mind is to focus on where we can have the most impact- and that is here, locally, in Clackamas County. How can you have that impact? Consider running for office in one of the seats available in the Clackamas County May 2025 Special Election!

In May, we elect the members of our School Boards, Water Boards, Fire Boards and more.

What offices are available in the May 2025 election?

There are around 70 offices available that are currently held by a non-Democrat or a Democrat who is not running in 2025. You can find a list of these positions here. Check the House Districts column to find possible races for your district. (You live in House District 51.)

In order to run, you'll need to live within the boundaries of the distinct. To check that, go to this website and enter your address. Click on "Utilities and Districts" to find your school and water districts. To find your fire district, click on "Public Safety" and look under "Nearest Fire Station."

What do Clackamas County boards do?

In general, the boards meet to discuss and vote on issues impacting their delivery of services to district residents. For some specific information, check out these resources:

How can Clackamas County Democrats help?

We have many resources available on our website, everything from how to write a ballot pamphlet statement to an introduction to OreStar. Start by visiting our Candidate Portal.

We also can endorse your campaign, provide office space, and promote your campaign through texting, social media and, in many areas, through the Neighborhood Leader Program.

We also offer the Jill Thorn Grant to first-time female-identifying candidates. Watch the blog for updates on the next time the grant is offered.
